Provisional pole for Brodie Kostecki caps off Fast Friday at Bathurst

Brodie Kostecki will start last in the Top 10 Shootout after setting the pace in Qualifying for the Repco Bathurst 1000.

In a close session where the top six were covered by 0.097s, Kostecki blitzed his rivals by setting a 2m 04.030s to take provisional pole into Saturday’s Top 10 Shootout.

Championship leader Broc Feeney was just 0.006s of Kostecki’s pace in the Red Bull Ampol Racing Chevrolet Camaro and Ryan Wood completed the top three in the Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing Mustang, only 0.56s behind.

In the press conference immediately after the session, Kostecki still believed not enough had been done to fixing party between Mustang and Camaro following meetings held during the event.

Fourth place in Qualifying was the repaired DEWALT Racing Camaro of Anton De Pasquale from Erebus Motorsport rookie Cooper Murray, Mobil 1 Optus Racing’s Chaz Mostert and Cam Waters in the lead Monster Castrol Racing Mustang.

Cam Hill just squeaked through in the Supaglass Racing Camaro ahead of stablemate Nick Percat driving the Bendix Racing entry and Thomas Randle will kick off the Top 10 Shootout in the second Monster Castrol Racing Mustang.

A high profile driver to miss out on the Top 10 Shootout was Will Brown in 12th, who will share the sixth row with Macauley Jones.

James Golding, Will Davison, David Reynolds and Zach Bates will line up behind.

Two practice sessions will be conducted tomorrow, the first at 9:05am, ahead of the Top 10 Shootout at 5:05pm.
