Provisional pole for Cam Waters in the Sunshine State

Cam Waters has continued his dominance on the Surfers Paradise by taking provisional pole after qualifying on the Gold Coast.

Yesterday’s race winner in the Monster Energy Racing Ford Mustang set a 1m 10.463s, with Coca-Cola Racing by Erebus driver Will Brown missing the top by just 0.024s as David Reynolds continued his strong run to be third for Penrite Racing.

Brodie Kostecki will get a shot at redemption in the Top 10 Shootout as he finished the session fifth behind key title rival Shane van Gisbergen in the lead Red Bull Ampol Racing Camaro.

Mobil 1 Optus Racing’s Chaz Mostert was sixth from Anton De Pasquale in a solid rebound for the Shell V-Power Racing Team Mustang as James Golding for Nulon Racing, Penrite Racing driver Matt Payne and veteran Mark Winterbottom in the DEWALT Racing Chevrolet snuck into the top 10.

Winterbottom’s teammate Scott Pye was unlucky to miss in 11th as he led Thomas Randle, Broc Feeney, Andre Heimgartner, Nick Percat and Will Davison.

James Courtney was another to miss due to hitting the wall exiting the Beach Chicane, while Macauley Jones also was forced to stop at Turn 9. A further incident prevented van Gisbergen from improving when Declan Fraser hit the outside wall at the final corner also catching out Bryce Fullwood during the closing seconds of the session.

The Top 10 Shootout is set to commence at 11:35am AEST/12:35pm AEDT before Race 26 later this afternoon.
