It was a surprise at the top of the timesheets after qualifying for the opening race at Hidden Valley Raceway as James Golding took provisional pole for Nulon PremiAir Racing.
Golding will be last to take part in tomorrow’s Top 10 Shootout after setting a 1m 05.691s to take top spot. The Bendix Racing Chevrolet Camaro of Nick Percat was just 0.074s off provisional pole, while Mark Winterbottom completing a clean-sweep of the first three places for the ‘Bow Tie’ in the DEWALT Racing example.
Red Bull Ampol Racing locked out the next two spots with Broc Feeney finishing just ahead of Will Brown.
Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Anton De Pasquale was the first Mustang in sixth leading TRADIE Racing’s David Reynolds, the second Nulon PremiAir Racing Camaro of Tim Slade, Cam Waters Monster Energy Racing Ford and Andre Heimgartner was the last to make the Top 10 Shootout in the R&J Batteries entry.
The Erebus Motorsport duo of Brodie Kostecki and Jack Le Brocq just missed the top 10 being joined by Penrite Racing pair Matt Payne in 13th in addition to 14th for Richie Stanaway.
Thomas Randle, Will Davison and Chaz Mostert in a disappointing 22nd all missed a Top 10 Shootout berth.
Practice 2 kicks off the Repco Supercars Championship action at 9:35am ACST followed by the Top 10 Shootout at 11:35am ACST.
