Race on the beach to launch Supercars on the Gold Coast

As the Repco Supercars Championship heads to the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 for the penultimate round of the season, a race on the beach was hosted.

Highlighting the close proximity of the circuit to the beach, a race was held on the sand between Matt Stone Racing’s Cameron Hill, drifter Mitch Mullen and off road racer Dexter Warren.

Pullen’s including highlights the newest addition to the event – the Boost Mobile Pro DRIFT SLAM. Held on Friday and Saturday nights, the drifting competition will be held on the north section of the circuit, with it to excite spectators after the racing is done.

While the drivers raced on the sand at The Spit, one of the Westpac rescue helicopters flanked by a Boost Mobile sightseeing chopper and stunt pilot Hayden Mullen in his HP Aerobatics plane added further to the spectacular sight.

Festivities start today (Wednesday, October 23) as the annual Transporters on Tedder event at 10:45am and 1:30pm AEST along Tedder Avenue.

The entire Repco Supercars Championship roster of drivers will take part in the SuperFest event underneath the Surfers Paradise sign on Cavill Avenue between 5:30pm and 6:30pm AEST.

Track action begins on Friday before 250km events on Saturday and Sunday.

Television coverage will be featured on the Seven Network and Foxtel.
