Repco Bathurst 1000 campsites on sale

It’s less than five months until Australia’s premier motor race and campsites are now on sale for the 60th anniversary of the Repco Bathurst 1000.

These sites are expected to sell out in record time due to the celebrations set to occur in October, with all the information including maps, availability and bookings to be made through the Supercars website.

Admission tickets must be purchased in addition to booking a campground as six of the eight sites are available to fans.

Supercars CEO Shane Howard is expecting one of the biggest attendances in history to celebrate the 60th running of The Great Race.

“Since we told fans we were going to go on sale this morning, we have received hundreds of calls and emails from those keen to attend this year’s 60th anniversary celebrations,” said Howard.

“Now they are on sale we ask fans to be ready to purchase as soon as possible as we do expect the remaining sites to sell out quickly over coming days.”

Repco Supercars Championship frontrunner Cam Waters is eager to breakthrough for his first victory at the Mountain following three podium finishes as he has encouraged the fans to join him in camping this season, something he does each year.

“I always camp at Bathurst, I think you kind of have to, everyone goes to Bathurst to camp,” Waters said.

“It’s the biggest event of the year for good reason, it’s the atmosphere.

“I love camping and being right in the middle of that atmosphere, you can smell the smoke from the fires, and you can hear the fans at night… it just makes that weekend a little bit more special.”

This year’s edition celebrates six decades of competition culminating in the debut of Gen3 at the Mountain from October 5-8.

Defending race winners Shane van Gisbergen and Garth Tander will be pitted against each other following the veteran’s move to Penrite Racing this year.

The traditional driver parade and signing session in Bathurst kicks off the week of festivities on October 4.
