Repco is helping power what could turn out to be one of the most eye-opening custom car builds of 2026.
The leading automotive parts and accessories retailer has partnered with brand ambassador Gary Reid from ShowTime, who is now well underway with his latest build: a Type-996 Porsche called the ShowTime Repco-Mod 933.
“Every car fan knows the 996 introduced water-cooling to the world’s most recognised sports car,” says Reid, a live stunt specialist whose fleet of extreme cars deliver action sports entertainment across Australia, including Repco’s on-track drift displays and stunt driving performances at various rounds of the Repco Supercars Championship.
“Well, I’m adding a few firsts myself. How about a twin-turbo LS V8 in the front – not the back – with a handmade aero kit, onboard racing jacks and more fabrication than a sci-fi movie?
“If you’re anything like me and love big horsepower in fast cars then this is going to be a memorable ride. Stay tuned.”
Repco is assisting ShowTime with this special build as an expression of its team’s own longstanding love of cars.
“We are car people,” says Mitchell Wiley, head of Marketing at Repco. “Repco’s stores are staffed with car people, many who have their own project cars, so it’s only natural we would support Gary Reid and his latest ShowTime build. A lot of car builders shop at Repco and this is a great way to show Repco’s support for Australia’s custom car community.”
Repco says it supports local motorsport and car culture by getting actively involved in memorable ways.
“When Repco activates at events like the Repco Bathurst 1000 we like to join in, and the more over the top, the better. It’s all about getting fans goin’ and this latest car build from ShowTime is a perfect example of this.”
When complete, Gary Reid’s new 996 will be unveiled at this year’s Repco Bathurst 1000 and then (noisily) enter service with the ShowTime stunt fleet.
In the meantime, fans can follow ShowTime’s newest extreme car build at carsales, where regular updates will be posted.
“This isn’t a resto,” says Reid. “This will be unlike anything you’ve seen. This is going to be Australia’s most wanted car.”
