Gary Reid
Repco ambassador

“It’s only Tuesday morning and already there’s so many campers and fans at Mount Panorama – the Repco Bathurst 1000 has really turned into a week-long festival,” said Gary Reid.

“We thought we were doing a simple photoshoot with the cars on top of the mountain, but very quickly we got surrounded by fans. It’s so good to see.

”There is nothing else like the Repco Bathurst 1000. Up here on top of the mountain, it’s a real family atmosphere. I spoke to someone recently who has a family of four generations camping this weekend.

“The camaraderie and the family vibes up here is just getting better and better each year. And it’s growing. As I said, it’s only Tuesday and look at the amount of people. It’s amazing.

“It’s a great race track. It’s The Great Race and the legends of the sport are here, but wherever you go – whether it’s at the track or in the town – there is something for everyone.

“So yes, the race is the main attraction. It’s all about those 26 cars fighting for the Peter Brock Trophy on Sunday, but the race week has turned into so much more.”
