Repco sets the scene for famous Bathurst 1000

Repco has long been a part of Australia’s ‘Great Race’, but 2021 will be its first as naming rights partner of the event.

Through every decade in the history of the Bathurst 1000 since the 1960s, Repco has been at The Great Race – whether supporting teams and drivers, or even supporting the event, including a long-standing sponsorship of Griffins Bend – the second corner of the circuit – during the 1980s and 1990s.

In 2021, Repco has taken over as the primary partner of both the Supercars Championship and the Repco Bathurst 1000, and today at Mount Panorama, Repco showed off some of the classic cars from years gone by.

Ten categories of racing, six consecutive days of on track action and the most amount of racing entrants that has ever been seen on The Mountain for a racing weekend.

Before a wheel has been turned, the Repco Bathurst 1000 is a history maker …

Today, Repco is celebrating the inclusion of their charity partner, ‘LifeChanger Foundation’ as the official charity partner of the Repco Bathurst 1000.

LifeChanger helps address the challenges that Australian youth face today. The LifeChanger Foundation identifies and develops youth mentors from within the local community and delivers a series of holistic self-development workshops for teens.

LifeChanger will play a significant role on the ground at the Repco Bathurst 1000, raising funds and awareness for its causes. Additionally, Repco has worked alongside the Bathurst Regional Council to ensure the LifeChanger program remains ongoing in the community.

The Repco Bathurst 1000 starts on Tuesday, November 30 and concludes with the running of the 1000km race on Sunday, December 5.

QUOTES

Wayne Bryant
Executive General Manager – Repco

“It is an incredible privilege to be the naming rights partner of this iconic race,” said Bryant.

“For at least the next five years, Bathurst will be a big part of our lives. We didn’t want to just turn up for one weekend a year, we want to have a long lasting, meaningful impact in this community. We have a great relationship with LifeChanger Foundation and have seen first-hand the impact their youth mentoring programs have.

“It is fantastic that the Bathurst Regional Council and Supercars have embraced them, and we intend to continue to invest in the Bathurst community.”

Cr Ian North
Mayor of Bathurst

“The Bathurst Regional Council is pleased to welcome Repco to not only Mount Panorama and The Great Race, but the Bathurst region as a whole,” said Cr North.

“We can see that Repco genuinely wants to make a difference and be part of the Bathurst community year round. They aren’t just here for one weekend a year, and we have seen that through them bringing their charity partner LifeChanger to Bathurst as their first major initiative.

“The BRC has already formed a great relationship with Repco and look forward to working together for the race and our great region.”

Anton De Pasquale
#11 Shell V-Power Racing Ford Mustang

“The Repco Bathurst 1000 is our biggest event and the last one of the year. We’re looking to end the season on a high as well as carry the momentum from the last few rounds,” said De Pasquale.

“I’m excited for the week ahead.

“It’s awesome to have Repco as the naming rights partner of the Bathurst 1000. They are part of our team and they’ve been a part of this race for a very long time. Repco has made history here at the Mountain through supporting some of the biggest names in the sport, so it’s just cool being here and to form part of its legacy.

“Our chance for the race is as good as any. It’s a long day, car speed is going to play a massive part, but we’re in as good a position as anyone to take this race out.

“It’s great that Repco has brought LifeChangers to Bathurst. It’s a great youth initiative, in which we can see the kids here waving the flags having the best day ever.”

Tony D’Alberto
#11 Shell V-Power Racing Ford Mustang

“It’s great to be back here at Mount Panorama for the Repco Bathurst 1000,” said D’Alberto.

“The team is in amazing form after winning races at Sydney Motorsport Park for the last month, so super excited to partner Anton this year. We’re going to give it a red hot crack and hopefully come Sunday we’re standing on the top step of the podium.

“Anton’s been scoring pole positions and race wins, he’s been driving the car exceptionally well so we’re looking forward to getting out here at Bathurst and continuing that form to finish the year strong.

“It’s fantastic to be involved with the Shell V-Power Racing Team for my sixth year in a row. I feel like I’m part of the family these days and comparing year-on-year, the vibe is just as strong as ever. Everyone wants to win races and work really well together considering they’ve been in each other’s pockets for the last month.

“They’re just looking to end this last week off really, really strong.”
