Repco Supercars Championship season launched in Sydney

This year’s 2022 Repco Supercars Championship was officially launched last night in Sydney ahead of the opening round in the city this weekend.

All 25 drivers assembled at the White Bay Cruise Terminal, which played host to the season launch where Jess Yates, Mark Beretta and Supercars Hall of Famer Neil Crompton kicked off 2022.

The Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight will be the first of 13 rounds the Repco Supercars Championship travels to in 2022 as the category returns to Albert Park, Perth, Winton, New Zealand, Newcastle and the Gold Coast.

Sydney Motorsport Park under lights provides the perfect spectacle to open the season, with the field consisting of three Repco Supercars champions, seven Bathurst 1000 victors and 15 race winners for a combined near-5000 race starts.

Two 300km races will be contested across the weekend, while a concert after Saturday night’s event headlined by Hot Dub Time Machine adds an attraction for fans.

The 2022 season is the second for the Seven Network as free-to-air broadcaster, with Foxtel returning for an eighth season and Kayo will also stream the 2022 championship.

Supercars action begins with opening practice at 3:15pm AEDT.
