Richie Stanaway confirmed at Grove Racing

Grove Racing has confirmed Richie Stanaway will replace David Reynolds at the team for the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship season.

Stanaway joins fellow New Zealander Matt Payne at the squad for next season as he returns to a full-time Supercars seat after a four-year absence.

Joining the grid last year as a Wildcard at Bathurst partnering Greg Murphy and backed by Peter Adderton’s Boost Mobile, Stanaway impressed as he was snapped up by Triple Eight to join Shane van Gisbergen for the endurance races this season.

The ex-Aston Martin factory driver endured two tough full-time seasons in Supercars for Tickford Racing and Garry Rogers Motorsport in its last year contesting the Repco Supercars Championship.

“As we continue to build the race team, securing a driver of Richie’s calibre is extremely exciting; giving the team the opportunity to challenge for race wins and championships,” said Team Owner Stephen Grove.

“Richie’s experience and feedback will be great for the team to further develop moving forward.

“I wish Dave all the best as he moves forward and thank him for his contribution to the team over the last three seasons.”

It follows a frantic week of announcements beginning with Will Brown being confirmed as van Gisbergen’s replacement at Red Bull Ampol Racing, while Reynolds and fellow veteran Nick Percat were announced today as departing their respective teams.

For Stanaway, it provides a second chance to display his talent in a Supercar.

“I would like to thank Penrite Racing for the incredible opportunity to be a part of the team next year,” said the 31-year-old.

“I’ve been impressed by the direction the team has been heading in recent years and have been enjoying my time in the Gen3 era thus far so I am excited to see what we can achieve together.”

It’s expected further announcements will be made this week.
