The Shell V-Power Racing Team has revealed a fresh livery and announced an extension of its agreement with Ford.
Team patriarch Dick Johnson first entered a Ford in 1980 and has been loyal ever since.
Johnson won three Bathurst 1000s and five titles driving Fords, with a new agreement set to extend Ford Performance support for a significant duration.
“Today, as we commence the campaign for our record 45th season in the Repco Supercars Championship, we are delighted to announce that we will continue our journey with the Blue Oval long into the future,” revealed Shell V-Power Racing Team principal Dr Ryan Story AM said.
“We are finalising the minor details on the longest sponsorship agreement DJR has ever negotiated with Ford Performance.”
Hot on the heels of this announcement, the Shell V-Power Racing Team unveiled its fresh 2025 livery and confirmed new recruit Brodie Kostecki’s racing number.
Featuring a white base, the new appearance of the team’s Ford Mustangs maintain the traditional yellow and red of Shell, but the scheme remains significantly different to those of previous seasons.
“When I first saw the number 17 Shell V-Power Mustang, I knew we had another iconic livery on our hands,” Will Davison said.
“We’ve got some exciting changes onboard and the team has worked tirelessly building brand new cars.
“I cannot wait to get on track and understand the differences and improvements.”
Kostecki will aim to add another Supercars title to his 2024 crown at Shell V-Power Racing Team and will use a race number he enjoyed plenty of success with in Super2, #38.
“This year’s livery looks unbelievable,” Kostecki said.
“I’m also super excited to be racing with the number 38 this year. I know it has special meaning to ‘DJ’ but it’s also the number I ran during my time in the Dunlop Series so it still has a special place in my racing history as well.”
“With the car now revealed publicly, it’s time for me and the team to get to work, starting with my first drive of the Shell V-Power Mustang at our shakedown on 13 February at Queensland Raceway.”
Johnson in fact used the same number as Kostecki at his meeting at Lakeside in 1964 and when he contested NASCAR in the early-1990s.
“This year’s livery is an impressive new look for the team as we embark on what will be a hugely exciting 2025 season,” Johnson said.
“It’s also great to have Brodie racing with number 38, it’s a number that is close to my heart as the number I raced under for the very first time back in 1964.
“I know everybody at Shell V-Power Racing Team is excited about what 2025 has in store for us.”
The team will complete a shakedown at Queensland Raceway on February 13 before the opening round of the Repco Supercars Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park on February 21-23.
