Steven Richards will pilot the 1990 Australian Touring Car Championship winning Nissan HR31 GTS-R driven by his father Jim at the 2025 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival.
Richards Snr put in a giant killing performance against the dominant Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworths to set-up Nissan’s first Australian title driving the HR31 Skyline GTS-R for the first six-rounds while the next big thing was being developed.
Nissan and Mark Skaife were developing what became ‘Godzilla’ in the background, with the R32 Skyline GT-R being raced by Richards Snr at the final two rounds to seal the crown.
The HR31 got off to a shaky start in Australian racing
The title success in 1990 led to a dominating era for Nissan to end the International Group A regulations in Australia by adding a further two titles and a pair of Bathurst 1000s.
Richards Snr in all won four ATCC crowns and seven Bathurst 1000 victories during his illustrious touring car career, while won many national titles in an addition eight Targa Tasmania victories.
Son Steven followed in his footsteps winning five Bathurst 1000s as part of a wide-ranging resume and he will make his maiden appearance at the event.
The Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival will be held on March 8-9.
