Supercars announce new commentary line-up and broadcast innovations

It’s all new for the commentary and broadcast of the Repco Supercars Championship for 2026.

Advancements in the technology used during the broadcast and a passing of the torch in the commentary box headline the changes.

A new era of voices will be introduced to call the action led by six-time Bathurst winner and 2006 Supercars champion Garth Tander, who takes over from mark Skaife as lead analyst.

Supporting Tander in the role is the recently retired duo of Mark Winterbottom and James Courtney, with both also championship winners.

These modern greats of Supercars will be play-by-play commentators Chad Neylon, Matt Naulty and Richard Craill. Each will be rotated during the Repco Sprint Cup and will share duties during the Ryco Enduro Cup.

“Our play-by-play callers know the talent and personalities of our emerging stars more than anyone, on and off track,” said Supercars CEO James Warburton. “They’ve also spent many years proving they’re ready for the step up, earning the respect of our fans. Chad, Matt and Richard bring passion, energy and proven craft to let the racing and our drivers tell their stories.

“With so much energy and excitement our sport is evolving. We had so much support and interest through our new Finals format, the arrival of the Supra to take on the Mustangs and Camaros and so many hungry new stars behind the wheel. This all helps make us the closest, most exciting racing category on the planet.

“That’s all backed up by record growth in attendance, viewership and engagement. These changes will take our great sport even further.”

Crompton was offered a reduced role in the commentary box for season 2026, but declined.

Skaife will remain involved at Fox Sports and it is believed will host a weekly program.

“Neil and Mark have been phenomenal for Supercars and their contributions are rightfully honoured in our Hall of Fame,” added Warburton.

Former driver and team owner Mark Larkham will continue to provide his unique views and technical knowhow on the coverage.

Australian Rally Championship winner Molly Taylor joins Riana Crehan as full-time pit lane reporters.

Supercars legend Craig Lowndes will enjoy an added presence on the broadcast in addition to his regular role as support category commentator.

Finally, Jess Yates enters a near-decade hosting the Repco Supercars Championship season in 2026.

The changes to the broadcast don’t stop there as NEP takes on the production, which will be available in 4K through Kayo.

Further broadcast innovations include the use of High Dynamic Range in-car cameras featuring increases coverage and angles covering the entire field, a new bespoke customs package, live team radio using Riedel technology to the same standard as Formula 1 and quick turnaround of messages for viewers to hear.

These innovations ensure the Supercars broadcast matches the evolution on the grid, with the youngest field due to take the start for the Dunlop Sydney 500 on February 20-22.
