Supercars drivers on the clay

As previously reported on Repco The Garage, Cam Waters continues to compete on the speedway, but this weekend Erebus Motorsport driver Brodie Kostecki also entered an event.

Waters raced at Horsham with Chief Racing where he had some demons to exorcise and he did just that.

After failing to make the time trials last year, Waters qualified fifth and started third from his first heat. However, Waters was caught out by someone else’s spin where he restarted rear of grid and climbed six spots to finish fifth.

Fifth was the result in the second heat leading to a starting position of eighth in the A-Main where he equalled his best ever result on the clay in fourth.

“I had a good night in Horsham, back in the #360 car and I time trialled fifth quickest, which put us out of three for the first heat,” said Waters.

“I was all over second in the first heat, but they spun and I couldn’t avoid it so that put us to the rear. But I managed to get back to fifth.

“Went from 10th to fifth in the second heat, which put us out of eight in the final. Managed to chip away at it and end up fourth on a rubbered down track.

“Really happy with how we went tonight. Massive thank you to the team and the sponsors.”

Kostecki raced at Toowoomba Raceway where he finished two positions outside the A-Main in what was his maiden appearance in a sprintcar.

He will return to the clay at Toowoomba Speedway a week prior to the season opening round of the Repco Supercars Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park.
