Supercars endurance seats filling up

Spots for the Repco Supercars Championship Endurance Cup are quickly closing up after the announcement Cam McLeod will join recent race winner Cam Hill at Matt Stone Racing.

McLeod won his maiden Dunlop Super2 Series race victory at Sydney Motorsport Park’s opening round and will join Hill in the Supaglass Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for the first 500km enduro at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park before the annual pilgrimage to Mount Panorama for the Repco Bathurst 1000km.

Hill enjoyed breakthrough results at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix support races starting with a podium result in the opener, then a maiden victory in the second race of the weekend.

This latest signing leaves just four co-driver positions left for the Endurance Cup among the main game teams excluding any Wildcard entries.

The first is at Brad Jones Racing alongside Bryce Fullwood, who has enjoyed a reasonable start to the season to further highlight his placing as the second entry behind New Zealander Andre Heimgartner.

The most prized seat of the lot is the one partnering Richie Stanaway at PremiAir Nulon Racing due to joining a previous Bathurst winner and it is a team on the rise.

Blanchard Racing Team is the sole squad to not have a co-driver confirmed, but Jack Perkins is likely to continue his co-driver role partnering James Courtney. A prospective candidate to pair with Aaron Cameron is yet to be determined.

Of course, Matt Chahda Motorsport is yet to reveal any part of its program at this stage in terms of a Wildcard.

The opening round of the Repco Supercars Championship Endurance Cup will be at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park on September 12-14.
