The voice of Australian motorsport is set for an unexpected call-up to a new television role.
Neil Crompton, adored by racing fans as the legendary voice of the Repco Supercars Championship, is said to be returning to TV sets in 2026, this time with a new team of legends.
The Supercars Hall of Famer and Bathurst 1000 podium finisher – universally regarded as the supplier of sound at Supercars races for the past 25 years – was spotted on-set during filming of Repco’s latest Bringin’ the Bathurst TV commercial today.
Bringin’ the Bathurst is the automotive parts and accessories retailer’s annual blockbuster ad that ushers in every year’s Repco Bathurst 1000 race – Repco’s sixth as the event’s major partner alongside Supercars.
The ad appears to have been shot discreetly with a small team of 300 staff and four film trucks with those silly side-pop-out trailers at an undisclosed location that looked like Sandown Raceway.
When asked how he’s been filling in his Sundays, Crompton said he has not been idle.
“Well, I haven’t been sitting around asking, ‘What about me?’”, he said defensively when asked during his Uber shift. “All I can say is everything is for sale!”
If Crompton is indeed returning to screens in living rooms across Australia and New Zealand for the 2026 Bringin’ the Bathurst commercial, it will be his second appearance in the award-winning production.
That production, remembered for Crompton’s non-speaking role where he appeared on screen for just over two seconds in total, won the 2024 Most Innovative Marketing Award at the Australian Automotive Aftermarket Expo.
After the sweet taste of that success, Crompton will no doubt be hungry for more marketing awards, and possibly even an opportunity to showcase his acting abilities with a speaking role in this year’s Bringin’ the Bathurst campaign.
More to come.
