Supercars stars to make NASCAR Cup debuts

Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Will Brown and Monster Energy Racing’s Cameron Waters will make their respective NASCAR Cup Series debuts at Sonoma on June 9.

Brown will emulate his ex-teammate Brodie Kostecki last year by joining Richard Childress Racing in a Chevrolet backed by Peter Adderton’s MobileX.

“Absolutely incredible opportunity to be able to head stateside and race at the highest level in America with Richard Childress Racing!!” Brown announced on his social media.

“I’ve got some great sponsors that have supported me for a long time in Australia and MobileX, Motorola & Shaw and Partners Financial Services are joining us for the race. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without them.

“Can’t wait to get to Sonoma and have been working hard to prep, but first we’ve got Supercars in Perth this weekend!”

Waters will follow on from his cameo NASCAR Truck Series appearances to take on the Sonoma road course in a RFK Racing Ford alongside the experienced Brad Keselowski and Chris Buescher, with the entry sponsored by BuildSubmarines.com.

“This opportunity for me is a dream come true, and one that I do not take lightly given the global audience of NASCAR and the Cup Series,” said Waters.

“I’ve been fortunate to dip my toes into the NASCAR waters a bit this year and am excited to put my road-racing experience to the test this summer.

“It takes a village to make something like this come to fruition, so I especially want to thank the team at BuildSubmarines.com and AUKUS for giving me this opportunity to highlight the AUKUS security partnership, and for all the efforts at RFK to pull this off.”

Of course, Shane van Gisbergen will be continuing his NASCAR journey at the venue as part of the Xfinity Series for Kaulig Racing.
