Both Team 18 and the Shell V-Power Racing Team completed miracles overnight after heavy qualifying incidents.
Team 18’s David Reynolds severely damaged his TRADIE Beer Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 after being unsettled by the kerb in The Esses and hitting the outside wall heavily at exit just prior to The Dipper.
Working hard to repair the damage overnight, the Team 18 crew have completed the bulk of repairs including heading off-site to effect welds.
The Camaro will be out for the fifth practice session of the weekend at 10:05am AEDT exclusively for co-drivers.
Reynolds’ incident occurred a day after co-driver Warren Luff miraculously spun through The Dipper to miss the concrete walls.
Shell V-Power Racing Team completed the rebuild of the Will Davison and Kai Allan Ford Mustang at 4:30am when it started up to begin system checks.
Davison also crashed at The Esses after running wide upon exit and hitting the dust set down to soak up fluids from Reynolds’ earlier incident.
In a much heavier crash, Davison was checked by the medical team and cleared as the Mustang ended up on the outside of The Dipper.
Team principal Dr Ryan Story revealed on social media the result of the all-night repairs through social media.
It’s been a fraught time for the combination as Allan also hit the wall hard at Reid Park during Dunlop Super2 Series qualifying and his Eggleston Motorsport squad effected significant repairs to his Holden ZB Commodore allowing him to take the start in the opening race.
Practice 5 will be at 10:05am AEDT for co-drivers only, while a final session will follow at 1:10pm AEDT before the Top 10 Shootout completes the day at 5:05pm AEDT.
