The world returns to Mount Panorama to take on the prestigious Bathurst 12 Hour.
Since introducing the GT3 regulations in 2011, the race has built into one of the globe’s most must win GT events highlighted by the fact it begins the Intercontinental GT Challenge run by SRO Motorsports Group.
Classes to compete in the race are Pro, Pro-Am, Silver Cup and Bronze in GT3 to suit driver ratings, while Class C for GT4s has two entries and Class I for Invitational models including the KTM X-Bow GT2 and Australian-manufactured Innovation Race Cars.
GT3 is where its at as Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R battles Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, Ferrari 296 GT3, BMW M4 GT3 Evo, Audi R8 LMS Evo II, Porsche 911 GT3 R, Ford Mustang GT3, McLaren 720S GT3 Evo and the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3.
This year’s edition of the Bathurst 12 Hour is back to enjoying a healthy entry and manufacturer diversity after the global pandemic of 2020.
The big news for this year’s event is the Chevrolet vs Ford battle being ignited on the world stage.
Johor Motorsports Racing JMR has entered two Corvettes in Pro and Pro-Am. New Zealander Earl Bamber has won this race as a team owner, but will be gunning for his first as a driver alongside Nicky Catsburg and Alexander Sims.
Princes Abu Bakar Ibrahim and Jefri Ibrahim will team up with Ben Green and Jordan Love in the team’s second Corvette.
Broc Feeney spearheads Ford’s attack courtesy of Haupt Racing Team’s entry also including previous winner Christopher Mies and Dennis Olsen.
Australian teams represent the chosen manufacturer strongly such as Tigani Motorsport, Arise Racing GT, Melbourne Performance Centre, Grove Racing, Scott Taylor Motorsport and Volante Rosso Motorsport.
Supercars drivers also feature prominently both current and former including Jayden Ojeda, Jaxon Evans, Will Brown, Kai Allen, Will Davison, Chaz Mostert, Thomas Randle, Cam Waters, Rylan Gray, Lee Holdsworth, Zach Bates, Tony D’Alberto, Bryce Fullwood, Ryan Wood and James Golding.
Outside of this impress list of drivers, international guns are led by two-time winner Matt Campbell, Philip Ellis, Fabian Schiller, Daniel Serra, Davide Rigon, Jordan Pepper Raffaele Marciello, Valentino Rossi, Kelvin van der Linde, Charles Weerts, Christopher Haase, Ricardo Feller, Laurin Heinrich, Jules Gounon, Luca Stolz, Lucas Auer, Maximillian Gotz and many more.
Also competing at the Mountain is Eduardo Barrichello, son of Formula 1 Grand Prix winner Rubens in the Heart of Racing SPS Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.
The race will start on Sunday, February 13 at 5:45am AEDT and will be broadcast on Kayo.
