Tickford Racing lockout front row in Sydney

Cameron Waters and Thomas Randle have given Tickford Racing a dream scenario for the opening encounter at the Panasonic Air Conditioning Sydney SuperNight.

It was a Mustang domination as Waters secured pole on a 1m 29.866s in the Top 10 Shootout from Monster Castrol Racing teammate Randle by 0.013s as the first two rows were locked out by Fords.

Mobil 1 Optus Racing’s Chaz Mostert was just 0.049s off pole and Shell V-Power Racing Team driver Anton De Pasquale was just 0.085s away from Waters’ benchmark.

Broc Feeney was fifth in the lead Red Bull Ampol Racing Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and will line up alongside Will Davison in the second Shell V-Power Racing Mustang.

Nick Percat returned to the top 10 after an uncharacteristic run in Townsville to line-up seventh for Bendix Racing alongside championship leader Will Brown in eighth.

Despite a disappointing practice session yesterday, David Reynolds rebounded to finish ninth in the Top 10 Shootout, while Matt Payne spun during his lap and will start 10th.

Andre Heimgartner, James Golding, Tim Slade and yesterday’s fast man Ryan Wood all just missed the Shootout.

Mark Winterbottom, Brodie Kostecki, Jack Le Brocq and James Courtney will be ones to watch as they start outside the first 15.

Race 15 under lights at Sydney Motorsport Park will begin at 7:30pm AEST this evening.
