No, the Grand Prix hasn’t returned to the city of churches, but instead recently retired Supercars full-timer Tim Slade will be behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car at the 2025 Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival.
Slade will in fact complete double duty in Adelaide when he drives the Arrows A10B in one session of the event, while also sliding behind the wheel of a Kremer Racing 962C sporting the colours of Leyton House.
The Arrows A10B is from 1988 and was designed by revered Formula 1 technical director Ross Brawn. Due to BMW’s withdrawal at the end of the 1986, a deal was brokered by Arrows to use four-cylinder turbocharged unit labelled Megatron in association with primary sponsor USF&G’s subsidiary.
Arrows finished fifth in the 1988 Constructors’ title as Eddie Cheever achieved a best of third at the Italian Grand Prix.
Slade will also drive a Le Mans legend in the form of the Porsche 962C powered by a Type 935 KKK three-litre twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine producing 750hp.
This is from the same period as the Arrows, Kremer Racing’s 962C finished a best of fourth at Le Mans in 1987.
The Repco Adelaide Motorsport Festival will be on March 8-9, 2025.
