Toyota releases images of race-spec Supra

Toyota has released rendered imagery of its Supercars-spec Supra following the category’s wind tunnel testing at Windshear, Concord in North Carolina.

Following rigorous category aero testing, Toyota has revealed the final appearance of its Supra ahead of its debut under lights at Sydney Motorsport Park next month.

Resplendent in new Toyota Gazoo Racing colours featuring black and white slashes across a black base, the livery will not be used by homologation squad TWG Walkinshaw Racing as it is due to release liveries on February 8.

Engine development is still taking place on Toyota’s 5.2-litre 2UR-GSE V8 for Supercars competition.

Testing of the Supra alongside Supercars rivals the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro will take place before the season at Queensland Raceway and during the Bathurst 12 Hour event at Mount Panorama.

Meanwhile, fellow Toyota defector Brad Jones Racing provided an update on the construction of its two new Supra builds and the converted Camaro chassis.

Team boss Brad Jones explained the three Supras are at ‘roller’ stage meaning each can be sat on the ground on their set of wheels.

Windscreen, dash and engines have not arrived at Brad Jones Racing’s Albury workshop as of yet.
