Will Brown turns the tables in Top 10 Shootout

After being pipped by teammate Brodie Kostecki in qualifying, Coca-Cola Racing by Erebus driver Will Brown has turned the tables in the Top 10 Shootout to secure pole position for tomorrow’s Sandown 500.

Brown set a 1m 08.669s to take pole after setting the penultimate lap of the Top 10 Shootout as championship leader and teammate Kostecki will share the front row after falling 0.186s short.

Monster Energy Racing’s Cameron Waters will start third after entering the Top 10 Shootout eighth, with Will Davison alongside in the sole Shell V-Power Racing Team Ford Mustang to make it.

A slow first sector ensured Broc Feeney will start tomorrow’s race from fifth for Red Bull Ampol Racing as he shares the third row with Blanchard Racing Team driver Todd Hazelwood following his spectacular run in qualifying.

The fourth row is an all-Penrite Racing affair as Matt Payne edged out his more experienced teammate David Reynolds to hold the upper hand on the grid.

A lock up for Thomas Randle approaching Turn 1 cost him dearly as he dropped from fourth to ninth in the Top 10 Shootout as Jack Le Brocq rounded out the contenders in the Truck Assist Racing Camaro.

A parity change mid-event for the Fords regarding the Mustang’s shift cut and this proved effective immediately as six were represented in the Top 10 Shootout.

Title contender Shane van Gisbergen will start 19th after a forgettable qualifying session, with Anton De Pasquale also placed lowly in 18th.

Supercars will be on the track prior to the Sandown 500 at 10:10am AEST for the warm up ahead of the main event at 2:15pm AEST.
