Will Davison leads into qualifying on top after second practice session in NZ

Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Will Davison has continued the squad’s reign at the top of the timesheets by achieving the fastest time in the second practice session for the Repco Supercars Championship at Pukekohe.

Davison led New Zealander Andre Heimgartner in the R&J Batteries Holden ZB Commodore by 0.011s on a 1m 02.152s in what was a close session with Walkinshaw Andretti United pair Chaz Mostert and Nick Percat also within 0.1s.

Championship leader Shane van Gisbergen was fifth in his Red Bull Ampol Racing Team Commodore, but a spectacular incident for Brodie Kostecki late in the session resulted in minor damage to the Boost Mobile Racing by Erebus entry.

Running wide on the exit of the final corner, Kostecki hit the outside wall twice breaking the wing and the rear toe link as he finished the session 18th.

Rounding out the top 10 was Davison’s teammate Anton De Pasquale, the Monster Energy Racing Ford Mustang of Cameron Waters, Nulon Racing’s Scott Pye, Bryce Fullwood in the Middy’s Electrical Commodore and the first Penrite Racing entry of David Reynolds.

Qualifying for Race 27 begins at 2:00 PM (12:00 PM AEST) ahead of the opening event at 4:40 PM (2:40 PM AEST).
