The seats keep on filling for next year’s Repco Supercars Championship season after confirmation Jobe Stewart and Jackson Walls will undertaken their maiden full-time campaigns.
Stewart was confirmed before action began on the Gold Coast following intense speculation linking him to a seat at Erebus Motorsport after an impressive Ryco Enduro Cup campaign alongside Cooper Murray.
Part of the Erebus Academy, Stewart has enjoyed a solid Super2 career, but really came to fore during the Ryco Enduro Cup in which he and Murray nearly won.
Coming closer to Bathurst victory, the pair were seventh at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park where Stewart competed comfortably against the regular full-timers.
“Jobe has earned this opportunity,” said Erebus CEO Barry Ryan.
“He’s been part of the Erebus family for a long time and has developed into a complete driver through hard work and consistency.
“His results in Super2 and his performances across the endurance season showed he’s ready to take the next step.
“We’re really proud to see another of our Academy drivers progress all the way to the main game, that’s what the program is all about.”
Stewart has climbed up the Erebus Academy ladder through the junior formulas and will make the final step in 2026.
“It’s been a long journey to get here, but one I’ve loved every step of the way,” said Stewart.
“Erebus has been my home since I was a kid and to now be stepping into the #9 Camaro full-time is something really special.
“From 86s to Super3 and Super2, the Academy and the team has given me every opportunity to learn and grow, both on and off the track.
“I’ve learned a lot working alongside Cooper this season too and I can’t wait to hit the ground running next year.”
Erebus Motorsport team owner Betty Klimenko welcomes the prospect of the squad’s youngest driver line-up in its history taking on the Repco Supercars Championship next year.
“When we created the Erebus Academy, it wasn’t about ticking a box, it was about building a genuine pathway for young people in motorsport,” Klimenko said.
“Jobe’s journey is the perfect example of what can happen when you give someone the opportunity and the support to grow.
“I’ve watched him come through every stage of this team and to now see him moving into a full-time seat is incredibly rewarding.
“It’s proof that what we’re building is working and that the future of Erebus, and the sport, is in good hands.”
SCT Motorsport also made its move by acquiring the services of rookie and Super2 race winner Jackson Walls for its first season as part of Triple Eight Race Engineering’s squad.
Walls won at Queensland Raceway in Super2 this season and sits fifth in the standings driving a Triple Eight Race Engineering Holden.
“I am super excited for the opportunity with SCT Motorsport and Triple Eight and I am very grateful for the support of Pete [Smith], Andrew [Jones] and Jamie [Whincup] for their faith in me to perform,” said Walls.
“Already being part of the Triple Eight team is a huge advantage. I’ve spent time in the Triple Eight factory this year and seen everyone’s commitment to winning races firsthand.
“My rookie year in Super2 has been a solid introduction to driving a Supercar and our recent race and round
win at Queensland Raceway was good step in building confidence.
“I really can’t wait for the 2026 season to start and to get behind the wheel of the Supercar.”
SCT Motorsport boss Andrew Jones explained Supercars is entering a new era in ushering in fresh talent.
“There is a real movement happening at the moment within Supercars around the progression of exciting young talent, the racing they are delivering is exceptional – we want to be a part of it and absolutely believe that Jackson will deliver on all fronts for SCT Motorsport,” said Jones.
“Jackson will not only have the full support of everyone within SCT Motorsport, but also the entire Triple Eight organisation who have an amazing record of providing raw talent with the right tools and guidance to produce world class racing drivers.
“This is a genuinely exciting period of change for this program, everything that has been implemented is with the pursuit of success in mind and having the right driver forms a key part of that.”
